New York, Fall View Oil on Canvas, Paul D. Ortlip
Michele has been a New York
casting director since 1985, beginning with Daniel Swee at Theatre Communications Group and
later moving on to work with Joe Abaldo, Michael Fender, and others. She opened her independent New York office in 1988, and continued
casting for theatres and independent films throughout the country. She
had the pleasure of working with Alixe Gordin and the Pakula Productions team on several studio features,
which included THE PELICAN BRIEF with Julia Roberts and Denzel Washington,
CONSENTING ADULTS with Kevin Kline and Kevin Spacey,
and THE DEVIL'S OWN with Harrison Ford and Brad Pitt.
In 1999, Michele moved with her growing family full-time to the beautiful island of Martha's Vineyard, She continued to cast independent features as she tended to her daughters and looked after the artistic legacy of her father, renowned painter Paul D, Ortlip. In 2006, Michele created Four Generations Art, celebrating the multi-generational heritage of the Ortlip family of artists. Four Generations Art operated a fine art gallery on the Vineyard for three years until Paul's passing, and continues to present art exhibits on a regular basis.
Michele lives on Martha's Vineyard year-round with her husband and two daughters. She has continued casting one or two film projects per year, and was thrilled to safely deposit her eldest daughter three thousand miles away at Stanford University in September, 2014. Upon arriving home, she realized, "I guess I can spend more time casting now!"
